Custom Shopify App Development · Shopify Partner

The Shopify App Your Store Needs

We build custom Shopify apps for brands that need more than off-the-shelf apps can do. One app that does exactly what your business needs, with no monthly fee and no extra code slowing your store down.

Custom Shopify app development: a Shopify shopping bag surrounded by app interface panels, code and analytics

Unbundl is a Shopify app development agency in India that builds custom Shopify apps for D2C and B2B brands. The team has built three: two private apps handling custom and location-based pricing for client stores, and one public app on the Shopify App Store that bulk-imports Excel data into Shopify metaobjects. Unbundl is a Shopify Partner and has delivered 100+ Shopify projects.

Custom Solutions We've Built

Saral Home

Pricing for made-to-order rugs

The problem

Saral Home sells rugs made to order, so every size is a different price. A product that doesn't exist until someone specifies it is something Shopify can't price on its own, and the team was quoting by hand. The existing apps in the market weren't solving the problem either, which led to pricing errors, manual work, and multiple operational issues for the brand.

What we built

We built an app that works out the price as the customer chooses their size, so they see the exact figure on the product page before they add to cart. No enquiry form, no waiting for a quote.

Faber Spa

Location-based pricing across 20+ markets

The problem

Faber sells in more than 20 locations, and the data coming from their database was structured in a way that Shopify couldn't directly understand. The challenge wasn't just moving the data, it was creating a process that could translate, structure, and map everything correctly so Shopify could read and use it. Without that, managing products, prices, inventory, and other information across locations meant constant manual work and a high chance of errors.

What we built

We built a custom middleware that connects Faber’s database with Shopify, translating and structuring the data so Shopify could understand and use it correctly. This automated the data flow and reduced manual work across 20+ locations.

Manage Metafields ‑ MetaStudio

Live on the Shopify App Store

The problem

Managing Shopify metafields one by one becomes a slow and repetitive process, especially for stores with large amounts of product and variant data. Merchants also had no easy way to move, back up, or bulk-edit this data without manually updating individual records.

What we built

We built MetaStudio, a bulk metafield management app that lets merchants export, edit, and import Shopify metafields and metaobjects through CSV files. It makes large-scale updates, backups, and data transfers between stores much faster and easier.

Do You Actually Need a Custom App?

Sometimes the answer is no. Here's how to tell.

Build one when

  • The App Store version does most of what you need and you've been working around the rest for months
  • Your pricing depends on size, configuration, location or customer, and Shopify can't work it out on its own
  • You're paying for several apps that overlap, and none of them talk to each other
  • Your workflow depends on your ERP, CRM or warehouse system, and nothing off the shelf connects to it
  • Someone on your team exports a spreadsheet every week to make something work

Don't build one when

  • An existing app already does the job properly
  • The problem is your theme, not your features
  • You need it live next week
  • Nobody on your side can answer questions during the build

What We Build

Custom pricing logic

Made-to-order, configurable and size-based pricing that works itself out as the customer chooses. This is what we built for Saral Home.

Market and location pricing

Different prices for different countries or locations, from one store and one catalogue. This is what we built for Faber.

Bulk data tools

Import and update Shopify data in bulk from a spreadsheet instead of one entry at a time. This is what our public App Store app does.

Checkout and cart logic

Custom discounts, bundles, gift rules and shipping conditions using Shopify Functions. The things the built-in discount engine won't do.

ERP, CRM and warehouse integrations

Your store talks to the systems you already run, so stock, orders and customer data stay in one place instead of three.

B2B and wholesale

Customer-specific pricing, approval workflows, credit terms and bulk ordering. Built for buyers who order the same forty items every month.

How We Build It

Scope the workflow

We sit with the people doing the job by hand today and map what actually happens. Most bad apps get built from a brief instead of from watching the work.

Check the App Store first

If something already does it well, we'll say so. You save the build and we'd rather keep the relationship.

Fixed scope and timeline

What we're building and when you'll have it, in writing, before we start. No open-ended billing that grows every week.

Build and test on a development store

We build against your real data on a dev store, so nothing gets tested for the first time on your live checkout.

Launch and hand over

The app goes live, your team gets shown how it works, and you get the code.

Why Brands Bring App Work to Us

Most app developers only see your codebase. We also run the ads, the SEO and the store itself for many of the brands we build for. So when you ask for an app, we already know what your checkout does to conversion, where your traffic comes from, and which workflow is actually costing you money. You get a build that fixes the real bottleneck instead of the one that was easiest to describe in a brief.

We'll tell you not to build it.

If the App Store solves it, we'll say so. We lose the build and keep the client.

You own the code.

Full handover, documented. Any developer can take it over later without needing anything from us.

We've been through Shopify's review.

Our public app is listed on the App Store, so we build to the standard Shopify checks for, not just the standard that happens to work today.

Frequently Asked Questions

A custom app is built for your store only and isn't listed publicly. You own it, there's no monthly subscription, and it does exactly what you asked for. An App Store app is built for thousands of merchants, so it carries features you don't use and follows a roadmap you don't control.

You probably need one if your pricing depends on size, configuration or location, if you're paying for several apps that overlap, or if your team runs a manual workaround every week. If an existing app already does the job properly, you don't need one, and we'll tell you that on the scoping call.

Yes, and it's the work we've done most. We've built pricing for made-to-order products where every size costs something different, and location-based pricing for a brand selling across more than 20 markets from one store.

Most custom Shopify apps take a few weeks from approved scope to launch. Integrations with ERP, CRM or warehouse systems take longer, because the schedule then depends on the other system's API as well as ours. You get a date in writing before the build starts.

You do. You get the full source code and the documentation at handover. If you want a different developer to maintain it later, they can pick it up without needing anything from us.

It shouldn't, and that's often the reason to build one. A custom app loads only the code your store uses, while a stack of App Store apps each add their own scripts to every page. Replacing several apps with one usually makes a store faster.

Yes. We build two-way integrations so stock, orders and customer records stay in sync. What's possible depends on what the other system's API allows, which we check during scoping.

Yes. We have one live on the App Store, so we've been through Shopify's review and know what it requires. Public apps are a bigger job than private ones, because they need review, multi-merchant support and ongoing operations.

Shopify retires old API versions on a published schedule, so apps need updating to keep working. We offer maintenance that handles this before anything breaks. If you'd rather manage it in house, we document what needs doing and when.

Yes. We build apps under other agencies' names with NDAs in place. See our white label services for how that works.

Tell Us What Your Store Can't Do Yet

Describe the workflow you're working around. We'll come back with whether it needs a custom app and how long it would take. If an existing app solves it, we'll point you at that instead.

No commitment. Just a conversation.
